Combat Tips for Brigador Killers
Win gunfights on foot and in vehicles without donating your loadout to NOSPOL.
Brigador Killers combat rewards deliberate aiming, stance discipline, and extraction thinking more than pure twitch spraying. You are an insurgent in Mar Nosso, not an invincible arcade tank—especially in Garage missions where death can seize the kit you carried. These tips focus on practical habits that work across OBSTACLE 1 teaching fights and longer THE GARAGE sorties.
Refresh binds in Controls first. If you are still learning the demo structure, skim Getting Started.
Foot combat fundamentals
Raise, then fire. Right mouse readies the weapon; left mouse fires. Skipping the ready step is the most common new-player mistake. Crouch (Ctrl/C) before precision shots—accuracy improves while your hitbox shrinks, at the cost of mobility until you stand again. Sprint (Shift) is for relocation, not gun-kata; you cannot aim or shoot while sprinting. Prone (Z) dives toward the cursor for a flatter profile when crossing lanes, but you will not be shooting mid-dive.
Use cover like you mean it. Isometric sprite denseness hides angles. Zoom with the mouse wheel: pull out to spot flanking cars, push in for pistol work in alleys. Lock target (Q) when a priority shooter weaves through clutter. Reload (R) behind hard cover, not while strafing across a courtyard because the animation “felt fine” in another genre.
Melee is a backup, not a build. When no firearm is raised, punch inputs exist for emergencies—after a panic G drop or a dry magazine in a doorway. Recover a real gun immediately.
Vehicles change the tempo
Sedans, technicals, tanks, and bipedal mechs each rewrite positioning. Many wheeled and tracked vehicles turn with A/D and accelerate with Shift, while mechs feel closer to on-foot movement. Vehicles shine when you need mounted firepower or cargo, but they also paint a louder target and often cannot interact with crates or the mission selector—exit with E to finish objectives.
A hardpoint technical prepared via Mount Weapons lets small arms ride the chassis while you focus on driving lines. Do not assume every scavenged car is a combat platform; some are pure salvage feedstock for the Scrapper and Fabricator loop.
Loadout risk is a combat variable
Because failed missions can strip brought gear, every fight has a bankroll. Ask before deploying: “If I die in sixty seconds, can I still recover through Crow’s Field?” If the answer is no, you are not bringing a combat kit—you are bringing a museum exhibit. Keep exotic Merchant toys and rare mounts for missions you have already scouted. Details live in Inventory and Loadouts.
Mission-type tactics
- Crow’s Field: Treat it as a warm-up and recovery map. Practice Tab transfers under light pressure. Grab the guaranteed low-tier foothold items without overextending into optional chaos.
- NOSPOL Ammunition Depot: Speed matters; reinforcements are coming. Pre-plan an exit elevator or extraction route before you crack the loudest crate.
- Merchant Causeway: The shop is the easy half. Kit for the patrol-heavy return. Park crate-capable vehicles correctly so purchases auto-load, then leave before greed spawns a second shopping list.
- Remixed hard missions: Expect enemy and vehicle spawn variety. Bring an answer for armor—mounted guns or heavier man-portable options—from your thirty-plus firearm pool.
Awareness and UI
Trust glow highlights and updated interaction prompts. If you cannot loot, your cursor probably is not on the object. Search bodies with Tab before they are gibbed into ground piles if you want tidy corpse inventories. Opening inventory mid-firefight is how promising runs end; break contact first.
Audio matters. Makeup And Vanity Set tracks slap, but gun reports and engine cues still telegraph flanking vehicles. Headphones help more than another HUD toggle.
After-action loop
Survive, extract, gantry the vehicle, Armory-offload, then decide what to scrap. Combat success that leaves a chassis on the floor is only half a win—see the Garage Guide. If Obstacle 1 still feels mechanically fuzzy, replay it as a no-stakes drill using the Obstacle 1 Walkthrough before you wager Garage progress.
Fight like someone who has to buy every bullet twice: once with aim, once with the walk home.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Why can't I shoot while moving fast?
Sprint blocks aiming and firing. Slow to a walk or crouch when you need accurate shots.
Should I always bring my best guns?
No. Death can take mission loadouts. Reserve rare weapons for scouting runs you can afford to lose.
When should I use a vehicle in a fight?
When you need mounted firepower, armor, or cargo. Exit on foot for crate interaction and many objective prompts.
What mission is best after a wipe?
Crow's Field is tuned as a gentler recovery sortie with low-tier gear, parts, and a vehicle foothold.
Does inventory pause combat?
No. Open Tab only when you have cover or a broken line of sight.
